What each feature needs
The helper tools below are installed in one click from Settings → Dependencies, so there's nothing to set up by hand.
| AI transcription |
Needs: FFmpeg, the Whisper.cpp engine, and at least one Whisper model — Tiny 75 MB, Base 142 MB, Small 466 MB, Medium 1.4 GB or Large V3 2.9 GB. Download only the sizes you plan to use; bigger models are more accurate but slower. See transcription models. Runs offline once the model is downloaded. 8 GB RAM recommended. |

| OCR & format conversion |
Needs: nothing extra. Blu-ray (SUP) and DVD (VobSub) image subtitles are read by a built-in OCR engine on both Windows and macOS, and ASS, SSA and MicroDVD files convert to SRT directly. Runs offline. Uses your graphics card through DirectML on Windows when available, otherwise the CPU (always the CPU on a Mac). The recognition model downloads the first time you use it. |
